The high school hockey season is right around the corner, and in Escanaba, the Eskymos held their first practices this week. Some of the boys are still playing football, with a big playoff game set for this Saturday. But for the rest, it's hockey season! He was a two-time national champion at Duke University, played 13 seasons with several teams in the NBA, and was a member of the U.S. Olympic Basketball Team. The Escanaba Eskymos beat the Ludington Orioles, 27-20, Saturday afternoon in their playoff opener. The time for the second round playoff game has been announced. Escanaba will travel to Alma next Saturday for a 12:00 noon kickoff. Against Ludington, The Eskymos took the lead in the final minute on a hook-and-lateral play, with Ben Willis getting the Craig Kamin pass and tossing it to Josh Bruntjens, who ran for the touchdown. Ludington had one last chance, but an interception by Nick Ramos (and a fumble recovery by Alex Lynch) sealed the game for the Eskymos.
