GRAYLING---The Bay College Norse women's basketball team used a tough full-court press to cause multiple turnovers, and turned those turnovers into points, in an 85-41 rout of the Kirtland Community College Firebirds Wednesday night in Grayling. The win sets up a showdown this Saturday against Mid Michigan, with both teams still undefeated in conference play.
Bark River-Harris graduates Nina Bower and McKenzie Hoffmeyer both scored 21 points as the Norse improved to 17-3 on the season, and 6-0 in MCCAA North Conference play. Jillian Fraser of St. Ignace added 14 points, making four three-point baskets along the way. As a team, the Norse made ten of the 30 three-point shots they took, and they sank all nine free throw attempts.
Bay led, 19-7, after the first quarter, and stretched that lead to 45-19 at halftime.
Kirtland (3-14 overall, 2-3 MCCAA North) was led by Alyssa Kiel with ten points. Kayla McCoy added nine.
