PORT HURON---The Bay College Norse women's basketball team cruised past the St. Clair Community College Skippers, 64-52, Friday night, as the Skippers New Years Holiday Classic got started.
Sophomore Lauren Zawada led the Norse with 23 points, including ten in the first quarter when Bay built a 21-10 lead. She and fellow Bronco McKenzie Hoffmeyer combined for 18 points and four triples in that first quarter, and SC4 was never able to recover.
Bay led at halftime, 35-22, and despite a cold-shooting third quarter, the Norse won going away with a strong 20-point fourth quarter.
Hoffemeyer and Jillian Fraser both scored ten points to back up Zawada's 23. The Skippers (8-6) had four players in double figures, led by Sylver Bowles with 13 points.
