PETOSKEY---The Kingsford 12u All-Star team has won three games in a row at the state tournament in Petoskey. On Sunday, they took down traditional powerhouse Bay County out of District 14, 6-4, this afternoon. They also beat District 7's Marine City on Saturday, 11-5, and dusted off District 2's Gull Lake, 4-2, on Friday.
Their dreams for Williamsport are still alive into today's state quarterfinal round, at 12:30 Eastern against Commerce Township out of Oakland County.
The other UP team at states, Marquette, lost to D15 Paw Paw, 16-0 on Sunday, after beating D3 Dexter, 5-3 on Saturday and losing a wild game to Ash-Carleton out of District 16, 13-12, on Friday. Marquette did not make it out of pool play, coming homw with a 1-2 record.
