The Kingsford Flivvers turned back the Escanaba Eskymos, 21-14, to win the Great Northern Conference championship in varsity football Friday at Flivver Field.
Logan Carroll scored on runs of ten and 56 yards for Escanaba while Luke Terrian ran in a touchdown and caught another for the Flivvers. Terrian's seven-yard run midway through the third quarter was the only touchdown of the second half.
Kingsford finishes the regular season 8-1 while the Eskymos end up 7-2. Both teams should be at home for the playoffs next week.
The playoff pairings are announced by the Michigan High School Athletic Association this Sunday night at 7:00 ET (Fox Sports Detroit).
The junior varsity teams got the weekend started Thursday night in Escanaba as Josh Bruntjens scored a pair of touchdowns to give the JV Eskymos a 13-0 lead at halftime.
Escanaba ended up winning the JV game, 34-7.
Escanaba's freshmen won Thursday night in Kingsford, 27-20.
