NMU Men's Soccer Team Earns Victory In Ohio, 2-1

NORTH CANTON, Ohio---
The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team edged Walsh, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Milazzo Field.


Nick Metcalfe
 broke the draw with his second goal of the weekend in the 36th minute of the match, firing a shot past Jon-Paul Della Pia.


The Wildcats opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game when Kevin Hoof buried a feed fromSveinn Karlsson. Walsh answered just two minutes later, tying the game at one on a Brett Sparks strike.


Filippo Torelli
 ended the game with six saves, including three after Metcalfe's deciding tally. Hoof's goal was his first as a Wildcat while Metcalfe's was his second. 


Hoof and Nicholas Vergara led the team with two shots on net apiece. Northern Michigan held a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. 


The Wildcats return to action this weekend, hosting Tiffin (Oct. 21, 1 p.m.) and Findlay (Oct. 23, 4 p.m.) at the NMU Soccer Field.
