SAULT STE. MARIE---It is baseball and softball season across the Upper Peninsula, but at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, it is also hockey season.
The university's hockey program has been holding camps for kids in various age groups throughout the week. The first camp wraps up on Sunday.
Players aged 6-to-13 are tapping LSSU's Taffy Abel ice arena for on-ice skill development in the morning, then moving to the Norris Center's Student Activity Center for off-ice development through ball hockey, shooting practice, and strength and fitness drills.
The last five-day camp sarts next Monday. A number of basketball, volleyball, and cross-country camps are also being run through July and into August.
