Wells, Peterson Help Gladstone Outlast Black Bears

GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Braves got big nights from two of their seniors when the team needed them the most. The Braves were able to fight off the pesky Big Bay deNoc Black Bears, 60-50, Monday night in Gladstone.

And it was seniors Tyler Wells and Jake Peterson who led the way. Wells scored a career-high 25 points as the Braves finally put away the Black Bears in the second half. And Peterson, who missed the start of the season with a football injury, added 13 points.

Big Bay led, 8-7, after one quarter, and Gladstone led, 23-18, at halftime.

Tyler Demers scored 14 points and Bryce Thompson added 13 for the Black Bears.

Gladstone improved to 7-5 on the season, while Big Bay fell to 6-6.

In Monday night's junior varsity game, Gladstone beat Big Bay, 50-31. Owen Hansen and Jeff Stenson combined to score 31 points in the victory.

Gladstone travels to Marquette next Tuesday night, Feb. 10. The game will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com. Big Bay deNoc hosts Engadine Tuesday night and hosts Rapid River on Friday.
