Eskymos Roll Past Kingsford; Keep Pace In G.N.C.

ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymos kept pace with the Marquette Redmen in the Great Northern Conference race by beating the Kingsford Flivvers, 60-40, Friday night in Escanaba. Brandon Robinette scored 15 points and Sam Molnar added 13 in the win.

Escanaba led from start to finish. The Eskymos led, 14-8, after the first quarter, and 28-17 at halftime as the three-point shooting was "on" from the opening tip-off. In the end, Escanaba made eight three-pointers, scored by five different players.

The Eskymos made life tough on the Flivvers all night long as no Kingsford player scored in double figures. Joe Gregory had nine points. Dan Harrington and Luke Jennings both added eight.

Escanaba improved to 9-3 overall, 5-1 in the Great Northern Conference. The Eskymos remained one game behind unbeaten Marquette in the GNC race. Escanaba will travel to Marquette next Friday to try to avenge a 47-33 December 17th loss to the Redmen.

Marquette beat Menominee, 65-40, on Friday.

Escanaba will first host Iron Mountain in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

Kingsford fell to 1-10 overall, 0-4 in the GNC.
