IRON MOUNTAIN----The Escanaba High School boys cross-country team won another invitational on Tuesday, getting three runners in the top ten to easily take the Kingsford Invitational. The Eskymo girls, meanwhile, finished second, behind Marquette.
Gladstone's girls finished fourth, and the Braves boys took seventh.
BOYS MEET: Escanaba's Eric Cousineau took third overall, finishing the Iron Mountain City Park course in 18 minutes, 26 seconds. Marquette's Lance Rambo won the meet, finishing in 17 minutes, 49 seconds. Kingsford's Nate Carey was second (18:03).
Other Eskymos to finish as medalists: Jordan Ogren (sixth in 18:53), and Joey Wolfe (18:55). North Central's Seth Polfus was ninth overall, in 19:22.
There were 15 schools represented in the boys meet. Escanaba won on the team score with 40 points. Marquette was second with 71, and Houghton finished third with 105 points.
The Gladstone Braves finished seventh with 229 points, and Carney-Nadeau was eighth with 230 points. North Central didn't have enough runners for a team score.
GIRLS MEET: Gladstone's Leigha Woelffer finished second overall, finishing the race in 21 minutes, 12 seconds. Marquette's Amber Huebner was the winner in 20:37.
Amy Giese was the top Eskymo, taking fourth place in 21:48. Marquette had seven of the top ten runners, and finished with a team score of 22 points. Escanaba was second with 76, Houghton was third with 79, and Gladstone was fourth with 80 points.
