Braves Pick Up Non-Conference Win In Negaunee
NEGAUNEE---The Gladstone High School volleyball team beat the Negaunee Miners, 3-1, Tuesday night in Negaunee. The scores were 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, and 25-18.
"I was very pleased overall with our middle hitters and setter connections tonight," Gladstone Coach Liz Gendron said. "When we are able to run the quicker sets and spread the offense it really helps to run a must more efficient offense." Callie Jensen had 30 set assists and 13 defensive digs to leadd the Braves. "Callie did a great job mixing up where she was going," Gendron said. "Negaunee served well to keep us working hard at our offense. They got a lot of hands on the ball to keep things in play." Lexi Hongisto had a team-high eleven kills, and Summer Demeuse had four service aces and 13 defensive digs. Jessica Beaudry had eight kills and also added 13 digs. "We really need to tighten up our serve receive prior to next week (districts), Gendron said. "Our middle blocking did a good job tonight. Katie (Belonga) and MacKenzie (Pardonnet) had some very nice solo blocks." Gladstone closes the regular season with a home match Thursday against Gladstone. |
