Braves Beat Marquette; Plan Breast Cancer Game
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School volleyball team followed up last Saturday's tournament championship by beating the Marquette Redettes, 3-1, Tuesday night in Gladstone. The scores were 25-13, 23-25, 25-14, 25-10. "We played three solid sets," Gladstone Coach Liz Gendron said. "We had to refocus after set #2. The offense is really starting to run smooth. I'd like to see more firepower from the middles, but I'm elated with how well the defense has improved from blocking to digging." Meanwhile, the Braves are planning their annual "Spike Out Breast Cancer" match on October 15th....along with the Escanaba Eskymos. "We have pink T-shirts for sale and pink equipment bags with our cancer logo on it available to purchase through both volleyball teams," Gendron said. "We would like to make sure we fill the gym with everyone in pink shirts. "Both of the teams' uniforms, and the pink game ball, will be available to purchase through a silent auction before and during the match." Donations will be accepted as weel. All proceeds will be go to support local breast cancer patients. That match will start at 7:00 on the night of the 15th in Gladstone. |
