ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -
The Northern Michigan women's lacrosse team had a dominant performance against the College of Saint Benedict Bennies, with a high-scoring second quarter paving the way to a 15-4 victory on Sunday.

Scoring seven goals in the second quarter, the Wildcats were able to hold the lead for the entirety of the match against the Bennies. This was the fifth time this season NMU has scored seven or more goals in a single quarter.

Josie Lakosky and Taylor Priestley both earned hat tricks, as Lakosky earned a double hat trick and Priestley with four, to keep the 'Cats in full swing. Crucial saves from Wildcat netminders and a tight defense led by Dayna Carlson, who for the third time in her career recorded 3+ GBs and 2+ caused turnovers in a single game, allowed for an 11-goal-scoring differential.

Lakosky led the Wildcats in goals, tying her career-best seven, while Priestley made her mark on the match with four of her own, a career-best in single-game goals scored. Camryn MayerSophie LangsdaleHannah Jabas, and Laine Stanton each added a goal to the scoreboard as well, with Stanton and Mayer additionally each earning two assists.

The Wildcats outshot the Bennies 29-22, putting 23 shots on frame while Saint Benedict only had nine shots on goal. Both teams completed 100% of their clears, but the 'Cats held an advantage in ground balls, 15-14. Northern also had fewer turnovers (6-9), but the Green and Gold caused four of those turnovers compared to the Bennies' only two.

NMU will now look to continue with GLIAC play next weekend as they prepare to head downstate and face GVSU and Davenport.
