MARQUETTE, Mich. -
On Senior Day at the Berry Events Center, the Northern Michigan women's basketball team ended the regular season with a bang, leading wire-to-wire in a 64-54 triumph of Davenport.

The Wildcats locked up the No. 3 seed for the upcoming GLIAC Tournament and will face No. 6 seed Wayne State on Wednesday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Berry.

NMU finished out the regular season 19-8 overall and 13-5 in the GLIAC. The win was led by Makaylee Kuhn with 19 points while Abi Fraaza impressed off the bench with 16 points and nine boards for a near double-double.

It was a cold-shooting day for each side, as NMU (33.9%) barely edged DU (33.8%) from the floor. The Wildcats held the Panthers to just a 1-15 (6.7%) clip from three while pulling down 10 more rebounds than the opposition.

On her senior day, Kuhn got the 'Cats rolling with the first six points from either side. Neither team was able to crack 10 points or 25% shooting in the first as the sides were deadlocked 9-9 after 10 minutes.

The second quarter belonged to the Wildcats backed by CJ Romero and her three triples in the frame. NMU covered a 14-2 run in the first five minutes of the quarter and would lead 32-23 at the break.

Out of halftime, Jacy Weisbrod connected from beyond the arc to give her at least one three in every regular season game this season.

Another 9-0 spurt from the Green and Gold put them ahead 54-35 heading to the final quarter. The lead would hover around 20 for much of the second half until a late Davenport run, but it was too little too late for the Panthers in their last game of the season.

The Wildcats will be home to open up the playoffs. Northern welcomes No. 6 Wayne State on Wednesday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. for the No. 3 vs. No. 6 matchup in the GLIAC Tournament.
