STAMBAUGH, Mich---The Bark River-Harris Broncos rolled up 470 yards of total offense and Dominick Lantagne rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-8 win over the West Iron County Wykons on Saturday in Stambaugh. ![]() "Being able to get back on the winning side, and most importantly, just executing better, and playing more as a team," BR-H Head Coach Al Stenberg said. "It's a good feeling. The kids are proud of themselves, and they should be. They deserve it." "I think it went all right," BR-H senior offensive lineman Hunter Schmitt said. "The first couple of plays were good, but I messed up on my kickoffs a couple of times." "But I think I had a pretty good game. I was pretty happy with the one kickoff that I got a tackle on." Fellow big man, senior Steve Kwarciany, was also pumped to get the win on the road. "We had a good week of practice, and that pretty much led to this game," Kwarciany said. "We studied film. We read all of our requirements. It showed in the game today. I'm proud of the boys. I think our main technique (on the line) was to stay in our position, beat the guy that's in front of you. Don't worry about the backs. Stay low the entire time, and just don't try to be the hero of the game." ![]() Meanwhile, behind a dominating line, the Broncos ran wild on offense. They never punted, and the only times they were stopped were the three times the Broncos fumbled the ball. Lantagne scored on runs of nine, 30, and 60 yards in the first nine minutes of the game, and after Ben Shiverski scored on a 14-yard run in the second quarter, Lantagne scored on a three-yard run just before halftime to make it 38-0. The second half was played on a running clock. Cristian Spear scored on an 18-yard run in the third quarter, before the Wykons, playing against mostly JV Bronco players, went on a 74-yard drive late in the game. That was capped off by a 33-yard-touchdown pass from Keenan Dobson-Donati to Abel Lundin. The Broncos were able to have a little bit of fun, too, letting big senior Lucas Sischo try a 25-yard field goal. He made it, too, the first field goal in many years for Bark River-Harris. Sischo also caught a 30-yard pass. He says the guys have all stayed together despite injuries and teammates missing games for disciplinary and other reasons. ![]() It was also a "welcome back" for senior Charlie Guenette, who severely hurt his knee in the baseball season. The Broncos had a little fun with the big guy, letting him catch an Ethan Ives pass for a first down, and catch another one for a two-point conversion. "I'm feeling good," Guenette said. "I've been in the weight room and building my knee's strength back up. The team's looking good. We're all dying to get in the playoffs. This is gonna start our rolling for the rest of the season." "It'll be a good run to get into the playoffs, and hopefully, we can make a good run there, too," BR-H senior quarterback Ethan Ives said. "We've got to do good in school. School comes first. Then, we've got to stay healthy and not do any dumb things outside of football. It's football season, so you've got to focus on it." Lantagne led the way for the Broncos with 177 yards on 12 carries, four touchdowns, and one two-point run. Shiverski added 106 yards on six carries and a touchdown, and Spear chipped in 46 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. ![]() |
