Marquette Soccer Now 3-3 After Loss In Kingsford

The Marquette high school boys soccer team on Tuesday traveled to Kingsford for a varsity match with the Flivvers. The home team won, 3-1.
Kingsford opened the scoring with a penalty kick before Kaleb Chipelewski of Marquette scored from a Ethan Sandstrom pass. Keeper Edan Hautamaki made 6 saves in the first half for a 1-1 tie.
In the second half, Kingsford was awarded another penalty kick which they converted before scoring another goal late on the contest. Hautamaki made 5 saves in the second half.
“Kingsford played well and gave us plenty to work on in practice.” Coach Dan Salmon
Marquette was playing for the first time since before the holiday weekend. Last Wednesday, Marquette beat Iron Mountain, 6-0.

Edan Hautamaki faced one shot in the first half and three shots in the second half in the net for Marquette.
“Our defense played quite well tonight especially Dixon Poggi. On the offensive side, Kaleb Chipelewski turned in a very dominant performance with four goals and an assist.” Coach Dan Salmon
Marquette is 3-3 on the season and host Sault Ste Marie on Thursday.
