CLEANING HOUSE: Three 'Cats Get CCHA Honors

MARQUETTE, Mich. - After 9-2 and 8-3 victories over Ferris State this past weekend, the Wildcats have been honored with three CCHA Players of the Week. Andre Ghantous has been named Forward of the Week, Simon Kjellberg has been named Defenseman of the Week, and Joey Larson has taken home Rookie of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.  


Andre Ghantous was tied for the Wildcat and CCHA lead over the weekend in points with five. He scored three goals (all on the power play) and added a pair of assists. Ghantous now leads the team with 30 points on nine goals and 21 assists. He has the second-most assists in the CCHA this season. 

Simon Kjellberg scored two goals, one each night, and added an assist for a three-point weekend. He led all defensemen with two goals and three points. He had one power play tally and a game-winning score. 

Joey Larson has earned Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and fourth this season. He scored twice and added two assists to lead all first-year players in each category. His 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points put him second among CCHA newcomers.
