Escanaba Eskymos Cancel All Games Thru Friday

ESCANABA---Escanaba High School Athletic Director Dave Wilson announced Monday that all Eskymo sporting events will be cancelled through Friday as the Eskymo community grieves the loss of Tara and Jerry Weaver. The Weavers were killed when a semi truck lost control and hit their SUV as they traveled to Sault Ste. Marie to watch their son, Lukas, basketball game.

Wilson says the teams will hold regular practices throughout the week.

The list of cancelled games and their rescheduled dates:

Tuesday, Jan. 31...Hockey vs Negaunee. Postponed until Feb. 11
Tuesday, Jan. 31...Boys BB at Menominee. Postponed until Feb. 8

Thursday, Feb. 2...Hockey vs Hancock. Postponed until this Saturday, 6:30, at Wells
Thursday, Feb. 2...Boys BB vs Houghton, cancelled (will not be made up)

Friday, Feb. 3...Boys BB at Kingsford, postponed unti Feb. 16
Friday, Feb. 3...Girls BB at Hougton, postponed untl Feb. 15

Games will resume as normal on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The Escanaba Eskymos thank everyone for the outpouring of support and the continued thoughts and prayers as the community grieves the loss of two fine Eskymos.
