HARRIS---The Rapid River High School boys basketball team rallied from eleven points down late in the fourth quarter to stun the Bark River-Harris Broncos, 60-55, Friday night, in Bark River. The Rockets trailed, 53-42, before turning things around late in the game by finishing the contest on an 18-2 run. It was Rapid River's second win over the Broncos this season. Center Kaden Drossart led the Broncos by scoring nearly half of their points (16), and Jacob Mileski chipped in 13 points with three triples in that first half. The Rockets were playing without three starters (Kodey Goldi, Texas Cambron, Everett Belanger), but still hung in there as Ian Sundling nailed three triples and scored 14 points in that first half. Rapid River also dominated in offensive rebounding to stay close. In the third quarter, though, the Broncos held the Rockets to just seven points, while Mileski scored eight (including two triples) to take a 46-39 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Bronco lead stretched to 53-42 before the Rockets clamped down on defense, and the Bark River players started hositing up multiple three-point shots. They all missed. The Broncos could not answer at the other end. Sundling ended up with 24 points, and he made eight of his eleven free throw attempts as Rapid River improved to 7-4 on the season. Anderson added 15 points, and Ticker Carslon contributed eleven points for the Rockets. It was another tough loss for the Broncos, who fell to 2-9 on the season. Bark River-Harris will play at home again on Monday night against Norway (7-3). Rapid River will travel to Stephenson Tuesday night. |
