ESCANABA---
You won't be hearing Tracy Hudson apologize any time soon for picking up an ugly win. The veteran Escanaba Eskymos basketball coach knows that wins in the Great Northern Conference don't come easy, and you don't complain when you get one, even if it comes in a less-than-pretty way.

Hudson's Eskymo girls basketball team had to grind one out Tuesday night, but survived against the Marquette Redettes, 48-43, at the Escanaba High School Gym.

The Eskymo offense never could get into a rhythm, but did just enough to earn a season sweep of the Redettes, and keep their undefeated season alive with a 9-0 record.

Mari Bink was the big gun for the Eskymos. The Saginaw Valley State University recruit scored 21 points, much of it in the third quarter when the Eskymos turned a one-point deficit into a seven point lead. It didn't come easy for Keira Maki, the Eskymos' top player is still coming back from a leg injury and she scored 12 points.

Marquette senior Meghan MacPhee scored 18 points to lead her team. The Redettes fell to 5-6 on the season and will gave another tough road game on Friday in Calumet. The Copper Kings are 10-1 after picking up a win in Baraga Tuesday night.

As for the 9-0 Eskymos, it's another Great Northern Conference game Thursday night, on the road against the 6-3 Kingsford Flivvers. Then the Eskymos will have a quick turnaround and host the Hancock Bulldogs Friday night.
