NMU Women Wrestlers Take 3rd In 13-Team Event

ALBION, Mich. 
- The No.18 ranked Northern Michigan women's wrestling team competed at Albion College on Sunday, seeing three individual victories and finishing in third place of 13 competing teams. 

The Wildcats accumulated 75 points, while Adrian College took first with 90.5 points and East Stroudsburg claimed second with 89.5. 

Lydia Krauss added a 1st-place finish for NMU in the 170 class, totaling 20 points. Krauss won by fall over Sawyer Graham (Augustana), Daminana Racciatti (East Stroudsburg University), and Kayley Rada (Adrian College) to stand atop the class.

Another victory came from Noelle Gaffney in the 155 class, as she added 17 points to NMU's total. She won by decision over Zoë Hussar (Siena Heights), Aspen Dodge (Adrian College), and by fall over Megan Vondrasek (Adrian College) to win the class.  

Diana Dzasezeva, the No. 5 ranked wrestler in the 136 class, claimed yet another win for the Green and Gold, tallying 17 points. She won by decision over Hannah Palise (Albion) and Phoenix Waters (Siena Heights), and followed it up with a win by fall over Mackenzie Tayerle (Adrian College) for first. 

In the 143 class, Marisa Roth added 14.5 points with a 3rd-place finish. She won by decision over Aine Moffit (Augustana) twice, and by tech fall over Allydia Byard (Hiram) and Isabel Worthing (Adrian College).

In the 101 class, Trinity Valentin took 2nd place. In the 109, Bryn Sandu took 6th for 6.5 points and Faith Romain added 1.5 points in the 136 class. 

The Wildcats will have a week off before heading to Carthage College on Friday, December 2nd for competition.
