NMU, Tech Basketball Teams Earn Academic Award

MARQUETTE---The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team has received the Team Academic Excellence Award, announced on Tuesday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)

The Wildcats accumulated a team GPA of 3.23 to earn the award for the third straight year. NMU was one of three GLIAC teams to be recognized. In addition, senior forward John Kerr was recognized as part of the NABC Honors Court.

The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

John Kerr (Exercise Science) joined the 'Cats as a graduate student, earning All-GLIAC Second Team and All-Defensive Team accolades this season. He averaged 11.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
