CICERO, IL – After dropping a pair of close 3-2 games to Milwaukee Tech on Saturday, the Bay College Norse Softball Team (19-13) rebounded on Sunday to take two from Morton College (3-13) by final scores of 12-1 and 15-1.

Morton took an early lead in the bottom of the first in game one with a two-out RBI single from Paulina Viveros (SO, Cicero, IL).  The Norse responded in a big way in the top of the second.

After back-to-back doubles from Natalie Belanger (FR, Rapid River, MI) and Kirstin Goodacre (SO, Rapid River, MI) tied the game, a sacrifice bunt recorded the first out of the inning.  The next nine Bay batters would reach base.

Emily Goodacre's (FR, Rapid River, MI) single drove in the go-ahead run.  Sarah Wynn (SO, Pitt Meadows, BC) doubled to plate two runs, Avery Sorochan (FR, Two Hills, AB) hit a two-RBI triple, and Ellie Miller (FR, Ishpeming, MI) belted a two-run homerun to center.  McKenna Bullen (FR, Escanaba, MI) capped off the ten-run inning with an RBI single to center.

The Norse added a pair in the third with Miller and Belanger picking up RBI's.

Sorochan was three for three with two doubles and two RBI.  Belanger also collected three hits, two doubles, in her four at bats, driving in one and scoring twice.  Miller and Kristin Goodacre were both two for four in the game with Miller collecting three RBI.

In the nightcap Bay kept the momentum going in the first.  Sorochan doubled to bring Wynn home and scored on Miller's single to center.  Bullen lined a ball to center in the second to bring in another run.

The big inning came in the third.  Sorochan picked up another RBI double to get the scoring started.  Belanger hit a ball to left that ended up bringing in a pair of runs.  With two outs and two on Marnnea LaFave (FR, Gladstone, MI) singled to center bringing the two runners to the plate.  Wynn drove LaFave home a couple of batters later, and she would score on a two-RBI double off the bat of Rachael Winkel (FR, Silvis, IL).  Sorochan followed that with her third RBI double of the game, making the score 11-0 in favor of the Norse.

The Norse added to the lead in the fourth.  LaFave drove in two with a single, Wynn doubled to center for an RBI, and Winkel had a sacrifice fly to round out the scoring.

Sorochan finished the second game three for four with three doubles and three RBI.  That made her six for seven on the day with five doubles and five RBI.  Miller also collected three hits in the second game.  Allison Podhaniuk (FR, Story Plain, AB), LaFave, and Bullen each had two hits with LaFave picking up four RBI.

Winkel started both games in the pitcher's circle for the Norse and went three innings in each.  Overall she pitched six innings and gave up three hits, one unearned run, walked no one, and struck out five.  Jamison Ness (FR, Edmonton, AB) pitched the final two innings of the first game, and walked two while striking out four and giving up no hits.

Brooke Gannon (FR, Edmonton, AB) pitched the final two innings and surrendered one hit, one earned run, and no walks while striking out four.

The Norse go on the road for regional games against Dakota County Technical College on Friday and Saturday.  Friday's doubleheader begins at 3 pm, while Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
