Gladstone Volleyball Team Drops GNC Match, 3-1
 GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School volleyball team split its first two games with the Menominee Maroons Monday night, but lost the next two games and fell, 3-1, in a Great Northern Conference match-up at the Gladstone High School Gym. The Maroons won the first game easily, 25-11, but Gladstone rallied to take the second game, 25-21. The third game was a war, with Menominee pulling it out, 25-23. And the Maroons pulled away to win the fourth game, and the match, 25-13. Lexi Hongisto led the Braves with 12 kills and two service aces. Summer DeMeuse had six kills and Mackenzie Pardonnet had a pair of service aces for the Braves. Defensively, Grace Zimmerman had 25 digs and Callie Jensen had 22 digs. The Braves host another Great Northern Conference opponent....Kingsford....this Thursday night. Gladstone also competes at the Escanaba Elks Invitational Saturday. TOUGH TOURNEY----The Gladstone High School girls volleyball team lost twice and tied once at a tournament in Marquette on Saturday. The Braves lost to Superior Central (15-11, 15-12) and Houghton (15-8, 15-10). The girls finished the day by splitting with Westwood (12-15, 18-16). Calumet defeated Houghton, 2-0, to win the tournament championship. |
