ESCANABA -
The Escanaba EMP Midget BB hockey team won a pair of games against the Ontonagon Midget BB hockey team in CUP League action Saturday at the Hannahville Ice & Turf in Wells.

EMP won the first game 3 to 2.

In the first period, EMP's defenseman Cody Vandermissen struck first by taking a solid shot, off of a pass from Christer Carne. Ontonagon's Garret Parker tied the score, to make it 1 to 1, at the end of the first period.

EMP's hard-hit defensive shots were too much for Ontonagon's goalie to stop, as four out of the five goals scored by EMP, were from three of their defensemen.

EMP's defenseman, Spencer Murray, scored first, with a hard shot, unassisted. Ontonagon's Alex Jones, tied up the game, making it 1 to 1, right before the end of the first period. Parker assisted on the goal.

In the second period, it was Murray who struck again, with his second goal, assisted by Carne. Less than 11 seconds later, EMP's Lucas Weinert scored with a solid shot. Carne contributed with his second assist of the game.

EMP's Kyle Mattson then fired in a hard slap shot, right from the blue line, unassisted. Olsen scored another top-shelf goal, with great team work coming from Vandermissen and Weinert. Parker scored for Ontonagon, assisted by Richard Olszewski and Zack Somero. Both teams were scoreless in the third period. EMP won the game 5 to 2.
