Escanaba Eskymos Host 2014 Youth Football Camp
![]() ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymos' annual Youth Football Camp was held on Monday and Tuesday at the Escanaba Athletic Field. The campers learned many different techniques instructed by head varsity football coach Jim Hansen and players from the Escanaba football program. There were twenty five campers who attended the camp, which was centered around offense on Monday, and defense on Tuesday. Most of the campers were from Escanaba with a couple from Gladstone, and a couple from the big state of Texas. ![]() The camp involved many basic drills on blocking and passing and catching that taught the fundamentals. The main goal of the camp was to have fun and learn skills the campers can use throughout their football careers. "We wanted to have fun and teach the kids some techniques and fundamentals they can use right now in youth football, in junior high football, and certainly in high school football," Hansen said. The camp concludes on Tuesday afternoon. Click the thumbnails in the ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS box to see photos from the camp. Story and Photos by Trent Schwalbach. ![]() |
