Reinhart's Walk-Off Hit Leads Esky Past Kingsford
ESCANABA---Breleigh Reinhart’s walk-off base hit in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Chloe DuBord with the winning run to lead the Escanaba Minor Little League All-Stars (age 9-10) to a 9-8 win over Kingsford in an elimination district tournament game Tuesday night at Lemerand Park. Reinhart had three hits and drove in four runs to help keep Escanaba alive in the district tournament, and set up a rematch with Norway in the district finals on Wednesday. Reinhart’s two-run triple in the first inning put the Escanaba girls in front, and she scored on an error on that play, making it a 3-0 Escanaba lead. But Kingsford scored five runs in the second inning, without a base hit, to take the lead. DuBord’s bunt brought home a run from third base in the third to cut it to 5-4, then Escanaba tied it on a Mary Kay Tourangeau hit and an error, bringing home Brooklyn Beauchamp. Escanaba scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Reinhart RBI double and a couple of Kingsford errors. Besides Reinhart’s three hits, DuBord had two hits for Escanaba. Reinhart pitched three innings of relief to earn the win, striking out nine batters and giving up three runs. Landry Bray started for Escanaba and did not allow a hit, but walked nine batters and hit two others. She was charged with five runs. Janessa Miskovich took the loss for Kingsford. Escanaba will play Norway Wednesday night at 7:00 ET at Lemerand Park. The game will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (NewsTalk 600) and on-line at www.rrnsports.com.
