UPIR Ends '15 Racing Season With Awards Banquet

ESCANABA---The Upper Peninsula International Racing Association recently wrapped up the 2015 season by hosting their banquet at loyal sponsor, the Island Resort/Casino.

Prizes were donated by Pacino's Pub, Holiday Gas Station Escanaba, Peninsula Federal Credit Union, Riverview Custom Tee's, Rock Auto and Competition Products.

The 2015 class champions are:

Avry Corrigan - Riverside Auto Junior Micro Sprint.

Gabriel Zellner (New Franken, WI.) - Sportsmen Micro Sprint.

Matt Peterson – 600 Micro Sprint.

Tyler Corwin – Bink's Coca-Cola Sport Fours.

Jonathan Pepin – Street Stocks.

Lonnie Dalgord – Modified

Dale Peterson – Honorary Modified Champion.
 

2015 Rookie of the Year awards went to Elliot Corrigan – Riverside Auto Junior Micro Sprint, Logan Getzloff – Sportsmen Micro Sprint, Paul Hosking – 600 Micro Sprint, Todd Brower – Street Stocks and Chris Lassila (Vulcan, MI.) - Modifieds.

The 2015 Sportsmanship awards in some classes were decided by a draw.

Many racers exhibited qualities deserving of the award.

Recipients were: Tristan Kostreva (Crivitz, WI.) - Riverside Auto Junior Micro Sprint, Kyle Getchell – Sportsmen Micro Sprint, Matt Peterson – 600 Micro-Sprint, Joe Williams – Bink's Coca-Cola Sport Fours, Paul Wagner – Street Stocks and Randy Theys (Algoma, WI.) - Modifieds.

There will be a general membership meeting on Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00 PM EST in room 952C (Joe Heirman Building) at Bay College in Escanaba.

Use the Danforth Road entrance. Nominations will be taken for President, Secretary and two Member at Large positions. Nominees must be a current 2015 UPIRA member and at least age 18 to hold office. All terms are for two years and effective January 2016. The election will take place in the same location at 7:00 EST on Tuesday, December 1.
