MUNISING---Munising Mustangs freshman Jackson Lasak rang the bell Saturday night at halftime to celebrate completing his leukemia treatment at a special varsity football game hosted at Munising High School between the Superior Central Cougars and the Mustangs. This event raised funds and awareness for childhood cancer and breast cancer.
Munising School officials say the event raised more than $2,100 for families in the UP battling childhood cancer, through Senya's Lighthouse, a nonprofit supporting Upper Peninsula families facing pediatric cancer and blood disorders. Munising won the game, 54-8. Both teams are now 2-5 on the season, with two games left in the season.
