GLADSTONE---The Kingsford High School girls volleyball team picked up another Great Northern Conference volleyball win Thursday night, winning, 3-0, over the Gladstone Braves in Gladstone.
The scores were 25-16, 25-17, and 25-15. Flivvers Coach Jackie Kreider says that scoreline doesn't tell the whole story.
"Gladstone puts up a relaly nice block at the net," Kreider said. "We had some trouble with that, and tried to make some shots. I thoughtr that it was a great match in that it allowed us to grow, and to work on our offense against a great defensive block. They were super-scrappy. They kept tbe ball alive. I feel like we were able to get them out of system at times, but they were just keep being able to get the ball over. So, it was going back and forth, back and forth. It was a lot of fun."
Her daughter, senior Mylee Kreider, was dominating offensively. She had multiple outside spikes for points, a couple of tips, and even a service ace as the second-ranked Flivvers improved to 10-1-0 on the seasson. Gladstone, much impoved over prevous seasons, is now 6-6-2 for Coach Kaitlyn Hardwick.
Coach Kreider says her team did what it needed to do to keep the ball rolling toward a possible Great Northern Confernce championship, and a long state playoff run.
"We don't really have a set lineup," she said. "The lineup is looking different every night. We're trying to see what's going to give ue the best opportunity offensively, and defensively. I think the girls just have to keep working mentally to make sure they understand all of the different stratergies that we're using. So that on any night, we can upt in any line-up, and they can stay relaxed and stay confident."
