FLAT ROCK, Mich.---The Bay College Norse athletic department hosted a high school cross country meet on Saturday for the first time ever, using the Farmhouse course in Flat Rock, the same venue that hosted the MHSAA high school U.P. Finals several times in recent years. Negaunee's girls (pictured) and Gladstone's boys took the team trophies.
There were eight high school boys teams from across the UP competing with full squads, plus another four schools who had runners compete but did not have enough for a team score. On the girls side, there were seven full teams competing, plus another six who had girls running it did not have enough to compile full team results.
There were also junior varsity/middle school runners competiing, The team results follow.

"We're excited to offer high school athletes a unique racing experience," said Scott Carhoun, Bay College Cross Country Coach. "With the new course updates, especially the addition of the horse barn, we anticipate the athletes will be chomping at the bit to be the first to run through"
They were. In all, there were 63 boys varsity runners, 59 girls varsity runners, 49 boys JV runners, and six girls JV runners.\\
HOLY NAME KIDS SHINE: On the boys side, Crusader senior Michael Rexford finished 21st out of 63 total runners (20:00.6). Freshman Sam Chouinard was 31st (21:09.8). Eighth grader Elliot Pfotenhauer was 40th (22:20).
