ON THE BIG STAGE: Gladstone, Negaunee Majors Ready For States

The Gladstone and Negaunee Major Boys Little League Baseball teams (age 10-12) arrived in Saginaw on Thursday as the 16-team state tournament is set to start Friday morning. There was a picnic for the kids and their families, and then a home run derby which served as a fun event, and as a fundraiser for Saginaw Little League, as kids were charged $10 each for ten swings.

Gladstone's Landon Stearns hit five home runs to take the lead in the event, but a boy from South Portage ended up dominating and winning the title. Gladstone's Joe McDonald hit four home runs and Mason Soper hit three. Negaunee had all three of its guys hit two home runs apiece. All in all, a fun night, heading into the main event on Friday: eight games on four fields as pool play begins.

Gladstone faces Mattawan at 10:00 Friday morning. Listen on FM-93.5, AM-600, and at radioresultsnetwork.com. Negaunee takes on Midland Northeast at 1:00. Listen to that game on FM-100.3 The Point, and also at www.radioresultsnetwork.com.
