HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALLL

ESCANABA 18, MENOMINEE 2---
The Eskymos took advantage of 13 walks issued by Menominee pitchers to win the Great Northern Conference game at Spies Field. The Eskymos scored six runs in the first inning and cruised from there. Eli Gardner went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Nick Chiu had two hits and three runs batted in. Kaiden Brown and Ben Johnson both scored three times. Escanaba improved to 3-3, while Menominee fell to 0-4.

KINGSFORD 6, NEGAUNEE 4---The Flivvers won their season opener by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to snap a 4-4 tie. Andres Finley's two-run double was the winning margin, although he was thrown out trying to advance to third base. Negaunee's Eli VanBuren and Keith Judici hit home runs in a losing effort. Van Buren's was a two-run shot.

NORWAY 7, BARK RIVER-HARRIS 0 (Game One)---Cole Baij and Issac Lorenzoni combined to throw a one-hitter in the victory. Baij also had two hits and scored three runs. Ben Shiverski had the only hit of the game for the Broncos. Eight different Knights players had at least one base hit. Lucas Hall took the pitching loss for BR-H.

NORWAY 11, BARK RIVER-HARRIS 0 (Game Two)---Alex Ortman and Carson Chartier combined to throw a no-hitter as the Knights won the six-inning game on a four-inning mercy rule. Ortman also had a two-run home run and a double at the plate for Norway, and Hayden Amundson had two hits. Ethan Ives took the pitching loss for the Broncos.

NORTH CENTRAL 10, SUPERIOR CENTRAL 0 (Game One)---Jesse Sampson threw a complete-game one-hitter and Connor Florenski drove in four runs as the Jets won their conference opener over the Cougars in Hermansville.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

NORWAY 16, MUNISING 0 (Game One)---Elizabeth Romitti had a single, triple, and three runs batted in from the leadoff position, and Jada Freudinger also had a single, triple, and three RBI. Munising did not get a base hit and committed four errors in the game, which was called after three innings by the mercy rule. The Mustangs were playing their first game after not fielding a team last season.

NORWAY 15, MUNISING 0 (Game Two)---Donna VanHolla had two hits and two runs batted in, and Kara Stanchina pitched all three innings for the win in the circle.
