Manistique Extends Winning Streak On Senior Day

MANISTIQUE---
The Manistique Emeralds baseball team was opportunistic on Saturday, taking advantage of walks and errors to win twice against Superior Central, 9-8 and 12-8, on Senior and Parents Day at the Schoolcraft County Fairgounds.

GAME ONE: Manistique 9, Superior Central 8. Isaiah Brow sacrifice fly ends it in bottom of the 7th Inning. SC’s Dakota Maki struck out 13 batters before running out of pitches in the 6th inning. Jack McEvers drove in two runs for the Emeralds. SC outhit Manistique 10-4 in a losing effort.

GAME TWO: Manistique 12, Superior Central 8. Emeralds scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Cougars pitchers walked 14 batters and hit three others. Bradly VanDamme had three hits and Blake Walther drove in three for SC.

Manistique improved to 8-10-1 on the season, which is their second as a varsity program. The Emeralds won only three games (3-18-1) in the innaugral 2021 season.
