GLADSTONE---
Gladstone High School senior John Hansen has signed to play football with Concordia University, an NCAA Division Three school in Chicago.

Hansen will play as a wide receiver there, after being limited to the defensive side of the ball for much of his senior season with the Braves. He was an All-Upper Peninsula First Team seection on defense, but says offense is where he wants to line up on the gridiron next fall.

"They had everything that I needed," Hansen said of his decision to play for the Cougars. "The academics, the football, everything alligned perfectly for me. My sister recently moved there, which was a big factor, and I really like the city. It's something that I've always liked the atmosphere of. They recently got a new coach, and they're looking to start a few freshmen, so I'm hoping that I can earn my spot there."

Hansen plans to study Finance and Accounting at Concordia.

"I like money, you know," Hansen laughed.

And being in Chicago, will he change his allegiance from the Green Bay Packers to the Chicago Bears?

"Definitely not," he laughed again. "I don't think I could switch like that, especially with their situation!"

Hansen was joined at the Tuesday signing in the Gladstone High School library by his mother, Kristina, and his father, former Braves varsity coach Jeff Hansen. A number of John's Braves teammates also stopped by (pictured below) to show support.
