WIRE TO WIRE WIN: Braves Roll Past Westwood

GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School boys basketball team scored early and often Monday night as they beat the Westwood Patriots, 79-61, in Gladstone.

Noah Ballard scored 22 points, Rane Castor added 20, and Mike Hagebusch scored a career-high 14 points in the win. Cam Ballard chipped in 17 points for the Braves.

Gladstone led, 25-14, after the first quarter, and 38-28 at halftime.

The Patriots never got closer than eight points the rest of the way, and the Brave shad the answer every time Westwood made a run. Mostly it was the inside game, with Noah Ballard hooking up several times with Hagebusch on the baseline.

Meanwhile, Castor was hot from behind the long arch, making five three-pointers.

Westwood got 18 points from Ty Alderton, but most of that damage was done in the first quarter. Taylor Dellangelo added 15 pounts and Zach Carlson scored twelve.

Gladstone avenged an earlier 69-51 loss suffered to the Patriots in Ishpeming on Jan. 14.

The Braves improved to 9-9 on the season and will host arch-rival Escanaba Friday night. The game will be broadcast on Maverick 106.3 FM and on-line at www.radioresultsnetwork.com.

Westwood fell to 10-8 on the season and will host Negaunee on Wednesday.
