PETOSKEY----The Escanaba High School softball team made its first step toward a third straight trip to Michigan State University by winning a MHSAA Division Two district championship on Saturday in Petoskey.
The Eskymos beat Cheboygan, 4-0, in the semifinals, then mercied Petoskey, 11-1 in six innings, in the title game. Escanaba travels back downstate next Saturday for the regionals in Gaylord. Escanaba faces Muskegon Oakridge at 10:00.
