IRONWOOD---North Central's Jason Whitens scored 32 points to help the Northern Michigan boys top the Northern Wisconsin boys, 139-125, in the Kiwanis Border Bash All-Star Game Wednesday night at Gogebic Community College.
Negaunee's Trent Bell led the way with 33 points, and Iron Mountain's Carson Wonders added 27 points.
Whitens, who will play basketball at Western Michigan University, took 23 shots, making 13 of them. He also had six rebounds and four assists.
Whitens also won the three-point contest and the slam dunk contest.
Bell, who will play at Michigan Tech University, sank 12 of 16 shots from the field, and he made all seven of his free throws.
Wonders, who will play at Northern Michigan University, made 11 of 13 shots from the floor, and he added eight rebounds.
Bell and Wonders were named the game's co-Most Valuable Players.
North Central's Dawson Bilski, who will also play at Michigan Tech, scored 17 points. NCA teammate Bobby Klieman scored eight points.
Eddie Muench from Ripon High School led the Wisconsin team with 25 points.
WISCONSIN GIRLS BEAT YOOPER GIRLS---In Wednesday night's girls match-up, the Wisconsin All-Stars topped the Northern Michigan All-Stars, 95-70.
Norway's Jordan Kraemer, who will play basketball on the new Bay CollegeNorse team, scored ten points, as did Calumet's Haily Wickstrom.
Kraemer also won the three-point and free throw shooting contests.
Escanaba's Jeny Brandt added six points and six rebounds in 21 minutes of play.
