ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymos had three players score in double figures and they pulled away from the Kingsford Flivvers, 68-48, in a boys basketball contest Friday night in Escanaba. Escanaba scored the final seven points of the first half, then went on a 9-2 run to start the third quarter, to turn a 24-21 lead into a 40-23 advantage.
Tyler Willette scored 14 points, Gavin Peacock added 13, and Ryan Robinette contributed 12 points for the Eskymos (1-1). Dalton Deneau chipped in eight points.
Kingsford (0-2) was led by sophomore Tyler Beauchamp, who nailed seven three-point baskets and scored a game-high 27 points.
In the junior varsity game, Escanaba beat Kingsford, 57-44, as Ben Willis scored 19 points and Craig Kamin added 15. Escanaba also won the freshman contest, 51-28.
