Braves Hold Off Manistique On Senior Night, 65-53

GLADSTONE---Reece Castor scored 24 points and Joe Gibbs added 16 as the Gladstone Braves beat the Manistique Emeralds, 65-53, Tuesday night in Gladstone. The Braves honored their two seniors, Kyle Pouliot and Phil Griffith before the contest.

Manistique got off to a hot start, building a seven-point lead in the first quarter. The Emeralds still led, 16-15, at halftime, but the Braves took a 30-27 lead at halftime.

Gladstone started to pull away in the third quarter, but the Emeralds did close to within 58-53 late in the game before the Braves pulled away in the final two minutes.

Darien Nichols scored 14 points for Manistique, ten of those coming in the first half.

In the junior varsity game, Gladstone cruised to a 74-28 victory. Andy Pouliot scored twelve points on four three-point baskets for the JV Braves. Sean Holm also scored 12 points. Kanton Lauzon led the JV Emeralds with eight points.

The Gladstone varsity Braves finish the regular season with a winning record at 11-9. The Braves travel to Escanaba to open the Class B District Tournament next Monday. Game time is 7:00 and it will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (600), and on www.rrnsports.com.
