Jets Celebrate State Title; Roll Past Carney-Nadeau

POWERS---First, it was celebrating past success.

Then, it was another step toward future success.

The North Central High School basketball team unveiled its state championship banner for last year's success, then the Jets went out and beat the rival Carney-Nadeau Wolves, 74-44, at the Thursday night at the NCA Gym.

The Jets scored the first ten points of the game and never looked back. Carney's Manny Duran tried to keep his team in the game, scoring 21 points in the first half. But the rest of the Wolves team scored just four points in the half, and NCA led, 38-25, at the break.

The Jets used a balanced scoring attack in the second half to gradually pull away on the scoreboard. Junior Jason Whitens scored 17 points in the first half and ended up with 22 points. Dawson Bilski finished with 18 points.

Duran had 25 for the Wolves.

North Central improved to 3-0, while Carney-Nadeau fell to 3-1.

North Central won the junior varsity game, 54-43.
