Escanaba 9-10 Girls Win Again; Quarterfinals Next

ESSEXVILLE, Mich.---The Escanaba 9-10 girls finished pool play undefeated at the Minor Softball state tournament in downstate Essexville.

Escanaba beat Big Rapids, 14-0, on Monday, to earn a spot in Wednesday's state quarterfinals. The girls will not play on Tuesday due to previous rainouts.

Abby Hill pitched all four innings on Monday, and she threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts.

She also scored twice offensively. Maddie Fulsher had two hits and drove in four runs. Aliyah Mylander also had two hits, and Anna Boutilier had a two-run single.

Also, Chloe Allen and McKayla Mott both scored three runs, while Paxton Bullen scored twice. Isabelle Braun, Aubrey Stropich, and Ava Boucher all scored once for a total team effort.

Carley McInerney added a hit and two RBI, and Delaney McIntyre had a sacrafice bunt and drove in two runs. Escanaba has outscored its first three opponents, 39-1, in 12 total innings.
