ESSEXVILLE, Mich.---The Escanaba 9-10 Little League All-Stars opened the state championship softball tournament pool play on Saturday with a 14-0 win over the District Three champs from Milan. The game went just four innings.
Chloe Allen went three-for-three, Abby Hill hit an inside-the-park home run, and Madison Fulsher had two hits and five runs batted in.
Makayla Mott and Hill shared pitching duties for the brief shutout, a one-hitter.
The Escanaba girls will next face Vicksburg on Sunday morning. That team out of southwest Michigan's Distrct 15 beat the host team from Bay County, 19-0, on Saturday.
