Esky Girls Win Four Times To Take Petoskey Invite

PETOSKEY---The Escanaba High School girls softball team had a long and exhausting day on Saturday. But it was also a rewarding day as the girls won four games to win the Petoskey Invitational. This after the girls played two games in Alpena the night before, and arrived in Petoskey just hours before Saturday's first game.

Escanaba opened the day with a 4-1 win over South Haven, a team from southwest Lower Michigan. The Eskymos then played a talented team from suburban Detroit, Lake Orion, and posed a 7-5 win.

In their third game, the Eskymos beat Detroit Country Day, 8-1. The Eskymos waited around for a while, and then faced another Detroit-area team, Warren Cousino, in the championship game. The result was a 9-1 win on the mercy rule.

Escanaba gets Sunday off, and then travels to Marquette for a doubleheader on Monday.

And then, on Tuesday, the Eskymos face Gladstone for a doubleheader in Gladstone. That doubleheader will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com. Broadcast on Tuesday will start at 4:00.
