ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymos won three singles matches and split their doubles matches, and posted a 5-3 win over the Iron Mountain Mountaineers on Thursday.
Jordan Lombardo cruised to an easy win at #1 singles, and Bryant Beem won his first set on a tiebreaker before beating Iron Mountain's Luke Truscott, 6-2, in the second set.
Escanaba won the #2 and #4 doubles matches, and Richard Yang had a nice win at #4 singles over Iron Mountain's Mark Beauchamp, 6-4, 6-3.
"I was especially impressed with our guys today," Escanaba Tennis Coach Jim Hansen said. "We battled hard even in the matches we lost. All games were in many deuce points."
"I am very happy for Larsen and Eastin at 2 doubles for playing hard for three sets and coming through," Hansen continued. "Richard Yang at 4 singles has played a couple matches for us this year and won both times and he is playing well."
The Eskymos host Gladstone in a make-up match Friday afternoon at 4:30.
