However, there will be an event for those who entered on Saturday at the Wells Sports Complex. More details will be provided as they become available, and a big "thank you" to the local Curling club for giving up the rink on Saturday for the hockey event.
Below is the Facebook post from tournament organizer Kim Milligan.
After having an emergency board meeting tonight (Monday) to discuss poor ice conditions and the possibility of moving the location of the event, we have had to make changes that directly impact the Mites to Men Pond Hockey tourney and the Mites Jamboree, but will be able to preserve the event.
We were able to move the entire event indoors to the Wells Sports Complex in Escanaba, but the day would change to be a Saturday-only event.
Three-game minimums will not change.
We greatly value the teams traveling from out of town to our event as well as our home teams and hope that you can switch gears for indoor 'pond hockey' on Saturday.
We will continue to hold the event in pond hockey style with no goalies and using the boxes instead of nets. We have amazing raffle baskets, custom medals, and family fun all day long. We agonized over making this change, but safety is of utmost importance to us. Please watch the facebook pages and website for scheduling news.
Pond hockey is a state of mind and I am confident we can have a great time!
