MENOMINEE---The Escanaba Eskymos won the Class B boys basketball district championship Friday, beating the Menominee Maroons, 48-46, in Menominee.
Ben Kleiman's basket with just over a minute left in the game was the difference.
Brandon Robinette led the Eskymos with 15 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Ogren and Sam Molnar scored eight points and Kleiman added seven in this defensive battle.
Escanaba improved to 17-5 on the season, while Menominee ended at 8-13.
The Eskymos travel to Petoskey on Monday for the regionals against Cadillac. The Vikings are 16-6 after beating West Branch Ogemaw Heights Friday night in overtime.
The Escanaba-Cadillac game will be played at 6:00 Monday night in Petoskey. The second regional semifinal pits Mason County Central (18-4) against Newaygo (17-5).
