CHELSEA, Mich.---The Kingsford High School hockey team went 0-3 at the Michigan Public High School Hockey Showcase this weekend in downstate Chelsea.
In Thursday's opener, Kingsford lost to the host Chelsea Bulldogs, 2-0.
Flivver Goaltender Wes Paupore kept his team in the game, but the Flivvers could not convert on three power play chances.
Chelsea scored single goals in the second and third periods to earn the win.
On Friday, Kingsford played Grand Haven, and a bad second period did the Flivvers in. Marcus Andrews scored late in the first period to tie the game for Kingsford, and back-up goaltender Joe Berglund did his job to keep it a 1-1 game after the first period.
But the Buccaneers scored three times in the second period to take control of the game. The Flivver goals came from Andrews, Andrew Zander, and Danny Willman.
Then on Saturday, the Flivvers fell to the Marysville Vikings, 5-3, as the downstate team took advantage of several power plays. Paupore took the loss in net as the Flivvers watched their season record fall to 3-16-0.
