KINGSFORD--- The Escanaba Major Little League All-Stars (age 11-12) advanced to the district championship game with a 2-0 win over Gladstone Wednesday in Kingsford.
Escanaba pitcher Gabi Salo threw a no-hitter, striking out 14 batters along the way.
Hannah Edington had an RBI single, and Escanaba's second run was an unearned run.
Amber Lenards took the tough loss in defeat for Gladstone.
In the loser's bracket game Wednesday night, Norway eliminated Kingsford, 16-4.
Gladstone will face Iron Mountain North in a loser's bracket game on Friday, and Norway faces the winner on Saturday.
The district championship game is scheduled for 3:00 ET/2:00 CT on Sunday at Kingsford's Lodal Park. The game will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com. A second championship game, if needed, would follow the first.
