HARRIS---In the theme of Halloween, the Bark River-Harris Broncos volleyball team survived a scare as they faced the Carney-Nadeau Wolves in a Class D district semifinal Wednesday night.
In a match that went back-and-forth, the Broncos pulled out a 3-2 victory by winning the decisive fifth set, 15-12. The Broncos will face North Dickinson in Saturday's district final, after the Nordics blanked Mid Peninsula, 3-0, Wednesday.
The Wolves led the first set, 22-21, but the Broncos put together a four-point run to win the set, 25-22. Then in the second set, BR-H extended its run to nine points by taking a 5-0 lead.
But Carney was able to regroup, and took a 12-9 lead midway through the set.
The Wolves went on to take the second set, 25-18, setting up another hour of back and forth volleyball.
BR-H won the third set. 25-22, and then in the fourth set, the Wolves stayed alive by winning, 25-21. That led to the fifth set, which the Broncos pulled out.
